Originally the double vinyl for my recent album Hindsight was only available to the backers of the Kickstarter fundraiser for the album. However, due to the many requests I've gotten over the years, I had a limited reprisal pressing made of this incredible album (featuring Orrin Evans, Basseku Kuyate, Mike Moreno, Rashid Jamal, Behn Gillece and many others, with original album cover artwork by artist Mark Kostabi). Each album will come autographed and hand-numbered. SALE price of only $25 (plus shipping) from Black Friday through December 1st. After that, they will sell for $40 (plus shipping). There are only 150 pressings, so get yours while you can.

about

Beginning with an intro by the West African n'goni player Bassekou Kouyate, "in Short Supply" tells the story of the resilient women of sub-Saharan African countries, who must carry around 40-pounds of water, many times a day, over miles of rough terrain to provide for their families. Water is symbolized in the piece by the recurrence of a fourteen-note pentatonic motif.

lyrics

Lyrics by Madelaina Piazza:

Forty pounds worn like a crown daily
Many gallons she brought to her home

About four miles risking her body. There's no choice. Brought to her knees. Day zero's very near. What to do.

How can we let this go on so long.
